Dear Rick,

On behalf of The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC), I want to acknowledge our strong support for the creation of a new Hospice Home “House of Comfort” for Aroostook County. I understand that the House of Comfort will focus on end-of-life care for those that are terminally ill, their families and friends in a home like environment. This hospice service is an important missing link in the continuum of care for those with a terminal illness.

Hospice of Aroostook, which is a subsidiary of Eastern Maine Home Care, provides in-home hospice to area patients. Unfortunately, we recognize here at The Aroostook Medical Center that in-home hospice care isn’t always a viable option for the terminally ill patients for a variety of reasons. When in-home hospice care isn’t an option a hospice home will greatly benefit those patients in need.

We look forward to partnering with the House of Comfort to meet the needs of our patients.

Sincerely,
Sylvia Getman
