Our community gathered at the Aroostook House of Comfort to honor Dr. David Jones, a beloved physician and hospice advocate. Friends, family, and colleagues shared heartfelt stories and a special memorial dedication, celebrating his profound impact and ensuring his compassionate spirit will continue to inspire.

In this heartfelt testimonial, Melissa Dyer recounts her family’s journey to honor her mother and brother, both of whom passed away at the Aroostook House of Comfort. Their hike to the summit of Mt. Katahdin on August 26th served as a tribute to their memories and raised over $1,100 to benefit the hospice. Melissa reflects on the significance of this experience and the overwhelming support they received during such a challenging time.

Hospice volunteers are vital in the “circle of care” at the Aroostook House of Comfort. Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, our Medicare-certified hospice care provider, is offering hospice volunteer training this fall.

In the early weeks of grief, emotions can be overwhelming, but they usually lessen with time. However, intense pain may return on special days like holidays or personal milestones. This is normal, and planning ways to cope, whether through support or personal rituals, can help manage these challenging moments.
